1+: Changes to Anthem Drug List Effective April 1, 2015

Several prescription drug formulary changes related to nasal steroids will take place on April 1, 2015. Also, Flonase Allergy Relief, a nasal steroid for the treatment of seasonal and year-round allergies, is now available for sale over the counter. Previously, Flonase was available to allergy sufferers by prescription only.
Three drugs will move from Tier 2 to Tier 3 on the Anthem National drug list as of April 1. Users in California who have filled a prescription for one of the products below on or after June 19, 2014 will be granted lifetime authorizations.
Five drugs will remain on Tier 3:
The four drugs below will move to Not Covered status on April 1. This is because over-the-counter options are available. Anthem will no longer cover these drugs under their prescription drug benefit plans.
Members on a prescription drug plan who have recently filled a prescription for any of these drugs will get a letter from Anthem about the formulary change. A $10 coupon toward the purchase of over-the-counter Flonase Allergy Relief will be included in these mailings.
