News & Updates
As a result of the presidential election, many questions loom regarding the future of health insurance, especially the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the potential impact on Small Group.
While the nation waits to see how the Trump administration will affect our country’s health care system, I am here to reinforce the following: The Small Group market is robust and offers you more opportunity than ever before. There is, however, no question we can expect to see changes.
2017 Carrier Changes
Over the past six months, there has been tremendous movement by carriers trying to find their success in the IFP on-exchange market. Some carriers, like Aetna, have decided to significantly narrow their exchange presence in 2017; last August, Aetna said it would reduce its public marketplace participation by nearly 70 percent. Aetna’s strategy also includes pulling their participation from Small Group exchanges nationwide, including CaliforniaChoice, effective April 1, 2017.
While we are sorry to see Aetna leave, the CaliforniaChoice health plan portfolio will remain strong with seven of the leading health insurance plans in California. For your clients currently enrolled in Aetna, they will see no disruption to coverage, but they will be required to select a new carrier during their renewal.
A Focus on the Future
At CaliforniaChoice we have spent more than 20 years building and refining a product that you could bring to your clients and offer great choice, outstanding service, and an attractive way to reduce the overall management of a multi-carrier program.
In the months and years ahead, we pledge to continue to find ways to add value for your clients – and to be the best partner we can be.
Happy holidays, and may 2017 be successful for you.
