Last week, Aetna Chairman and CEO Ron Williams represented the health care industry at a gathering of 13 chief executive officers who were invited to meet with President Barack Obama to talk about his economic rescue plan. The President asked the group of industry leaders for their support in helping to get the stimulus bill passed. Williams commended the President for his leadership in confronting the nation's economic challenges and, in particular, for the bill's proposed investments in health information technology and expanded health care access. Aetna supports the Administration's efforts to provide temporary subsidies for COBRA coverage during the economic crisis and extension/expansion of children's coverage through SCHIP. Williams also said that Aetna looks forward to working with the Administration and Congress cooperatively to transform health care in America.
