Major Health Law Provisions Kick In
August 1, 2012 marked the effective date of Affordable Care Act (ACA) provisions that expand coverage of women’s preventive health services and call for rebates to customers and members when health plan administrative costs exceed certain thresholds.
Other highlights include:
- Arizona will wait until after the November elections to decide the fate of Medicaid expansion and a state health insurance exchange.
- The Massachusetts legislature has agreed to a health delivery reform bill that would create new oversight agencies funded by new fees on health plans, employers and hospitals.
- A Milliman study on essential health benefits for New York points to a likely benchmark.
