Congressional Republicans Working on Alternative Health Reform Plan
Congressional Republicans last week announced that over the next several months they will flesh out an alternative health reform plan featuring ideas such as medical liability reform, allowing insurers to sell products across state lines and health insurance tax breaks for employees.
Other highlights include:
- Several new insurance bills have been filed in the Arizona legislature, e.g., permitting cross-border sales and an interstate compact.
- The California legislature is again conducting hearings on a single-payer health care system bill, despite its $210 billion price tag.
- Texas officials' request for a waiver from medical loss ratio requirements under the federal health reform law has been denied.
