Congress Takes On Budget Reconciliation Proposals

Congress returned from recess last week and set about developing recommendations for a budget reconciliation bill. Six House committees have been charged with developing recommendations by April 27 for a bill achieving $261 billion in budget savings over 10 years.

Other highlights include:

  • The Arizona Insurance Department is holding public meetings on a new individual rate review rule.
  • Individual market reform has passed its first policy committee in California. The bill includes guaranteed issue but without a coverage mandate to pay for it.
  • A new report urges New York policymakers to consider a number of suggestions before finalizing health insurance exchange rules.
  • A bill signed into law in Washington imposes notice requirements on provider-based clinics that charge a facility fee prior to delivering services.
