The Republican National Convention last week adopted a party platform that calls for significant changes to Medicare and Medicaid in keeping with proposals made by U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, the party’s nominee for vice president.
Other highlights include:
- Colorado has announced a recommendation for the state’s essential health benefit benchmark plan.
- Georgia’s governor announced last week that he does not intend to expand the state’s Medicaid program.
- A new report shows membership in Massachusetts individual and small group health plans declined from 2010 to 2011.
- Some local Texas officials are considering banding together to expand Medicaid coverage in their counties.
