Anthem Sending New Disclosure to Fully Insured Groups

Oct 13, 2011

The California Department of Insurance will require the two-page California Life and Health Insurance Guarantee Association (CLHIGA) disclosure notice be sent with all Evidence of Coverage (EOC) and Group Benefit Agreements for Fully Insured business effective September 26, 2011.

The purpose of the CLHIGA is to ensure that policy holders will be protected, within certain limits, in the unlikely event that a member insurer of the Association becomes financially unable to meet its obligations. Association members are insurance companies licensed in California to sell life insurance, health insurance, annuities and structured settlement annuities.

In compliance with DOI, Anthem Blue Cross will include this notice with the impacted EOCs and Group Benefit Agreements.
