Behavioral health pre-service review effective 1/1/10 for all HMO plans

Effective 1/1/10 for all HMO plans, behavioral health conditions including mental health, substance abuse and severe mental illness and serious emotional disturbance of a child will require pre-service review for outpatient services on the thirteenth and subsequent visits with each provider (in network or out of network). Anthem Blue Cross will notify employers beginning with January 1, 2010 renewals and after for 2-50 groups, and November 1, 2009 and after for 51-99 groups.
