CMS Ratings Released

Nov 29, 2016

UnitedHealthcare's 2017 Star Ratings Reflect Positive Results

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released the 2017 Star Ratings for UnitedHealthcare® Medicare and Retirement. CMS publishes the Part C and D Star Ratings each year to measure quality in Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plans (PDPs or Part D plans), assist beneficiaries in finding the best plan for them, and determine Medicare Advantage Quality Bonus Payments. Star Ratings help drive improvements in Medicare quality as well as support the efforts of CMS to improve the level of accountability for the care provided by physicians, hospitals and other providers.

UnitedHealthcare’s 2017 Star Ratings reflected many positive plan improvements. UnitedHealthcare projects that approximately 84 percent of Medicare Advantage members, both group and individual, will be in four-star plans for 2017 Star Ratings (2018 payment year). In addition, 99 percent of employer group members will remain in a 4-star or greater plan for the 2017 Star Ratings (2018 payment year).

For members, these results mean that UnitedHealthcare is committed to expanding access to care based on quality, and developing new services and solutions to drive Star Ratings improvements.
