"Keep Your Plan" Renewal Option from CaliforniaChoice

With the recent passage of SB1446 (2014), CaliforniaChoice has introduced "Keep Your Plan" Renewal Option that offers groups with a renewal date from October through December 2014 the option to keep their current plan/policy with some health plans until their renewal in 2015.

Over the next couple of weeks, CaliforniaChoice will mail to eligible employer groups information about the "Keep Your Plan" renewal option, including copies of required forms and the submission deadlines applicable to the group's renewal date. Brokers will receive a copy of the information sent to their group(s).

See below for details on how "Keep Your Plan" will work for each renewal month October through December.
"Keep Your Plan" Renewal Option Details for October Renewing Groups
  • Includes only these health plans:
    • Anthem
    • Health Net
    • Kaiser Permanente
    • Western Health

  • Available only to groups that currently have 70% or more of their active CaliforniaChoice medical enrolled employees in:

    • Anthem
    • Health Net
    • Kaiser Permanente, and/or
    • Western Health

  • Group's current rates (which means a rate pass) and benefits will remain in effect for:

    • Anthem
    • Health Net
    • Kaiser Permanente and/or
    • Western Health

  • Any employee enrolled in Aetna or Sharp is required to complete an Employee Change Request form to select Anthem, Health Net, Kaiser Permanente or Western Health Advantage. Enrollment changes may result in higher premium costs than those available with 2014 ACA options.

  • Submit your request to "Keep Your Plan":

    • Complete, sign and fax (714-644-1700) or email (keepyourplan@calchoice.com) the "Keep Your Plan" Contract Request form AND all required "Keep Your Plan" Employee Change Request forms to CHOICE Administrators by September 23rd.
    • Forms received after the deadline of September 23rd will not be accepted. The "Keep Your Plan" Contract Request must be signed by an authorized group contact on record with CaliforniaChoice.

"Keep Your Plan" Renewal Option Details for November Renewing Groups
  • All details for November mirror October with the exception of the change request deadline. See details below and the November FAQ

  • Submit your request to "Keep Your Plan":

    • Complete, sign and fax (714-644-1700) or email (keepyourplan@calchoice.com) the "Keep Your Plan" Contract Request form AND all required "Keep Your Plan" Employee Change Request forms to CHOICE Administrators by September 30th.
    • Forms received after the deadline of September 30th will not be accepted. The "Keep Your Plan" Contract Request must be signed by an authorized group contact on record with CaliforniaChoice.

"Keep Your Plan" Renewal Option Details for December Renewing Groups
  • Details for December mirror October and November with the exception of the change request deadline and the addition of Sharp as an eligible health plan. See details below and the December FAQ.

ACA Compliant Plan Renewal Option
If your clients are renewing onto the 2014 ACA compliant plans, and are not making any group level or member level changes, no special action is needed.
