Large Group Definition Returns to 51-125

Dec 29, 2010

General Agency Announcement Large Group Update

Anthem Blue Cross has a long standing partnership with approved General Agents in California.  They continue valuing this relationship as they help represent Anthem Blue Cross throughout the state.

Their current business relationship with the General Agents is for Small Group and Large Group.  They will continue this relationship but have a slight change to the Large Group definition.  Currently, Large Group is defined as 51-250 eligible lives.  Effective January 1, 2011, the Large Group definition will change to 51-125 eligible lives.  Any cases for 125+ eligible lives quoted prior to January 1, 2011 but written with effective dates after this date will be honored.  Any cases received after January 1, 2011 with 125+ eligible lives will not be covered under the General Agency agreements.

While this change impacts the larger end of Anthem's current definition for Large Group with General Agencies, it does not impact in any way the Small Group market.

Anthem appreciates working with you and their General Agents.  Their General Agents were recently sent an amendment to their agreement with Anthem to reflect this change.  Anthem believes this change should have minimal impact on the relationship(s) established and they look forward to their continued mutual success.
