Mental Health Parity Act Restricts New Cases to Groups with 50 or Fewer EEs

Beginning with November 1, 2009 effective dates, CHOICE
Small Group programs will no longer permit new case submissions for groups with over 50 employees. This underwriting change is being implemented due to the Federal Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (HR1424) passed by Congress. This Act mandates the mental health and substance abuse health plan benefits for groups with 51 or more employees.
