Woodland Hills, CA – January 8, 2009
—Thousands of Anthem Blue Cross members in San Joaquin County and surrounding areas now have access to in-network care at San Joaquin General Hospital, a result of a new contract between Anthem and the 196-bed, general acute care facility located in French Camp, California. San Joaquin General Hospital also offers comprehensive outpatient services including Primary Care and Specialty Clinics, and a state-of- the-art Emergency Department. The hospital provides more than 200,000 outpatient visits a year.
The contract, effective immediately, means that members enrolled in Anthem’s Prudent Buyer PPO Plan and CaliforniaCare HMO & POS plans will have access to quality medical care from San Joaquin General Hospital at the highest level of benefits.
“Anthem Blue Cross is delighted to team up with San Joaquin General Hospital to provide high quality healthcare while working to keep costs as affordable as possible for our members,” said Steve Melody, vice president of health care management for Anthem Blue Cross. “San Joaquin General Hospital is a medical facility with a long and successful history in San Joaquin County and they are taking exciting steps to assure they are prepared to meet the health needs of the future, such as the building of a state-of-the-art replacement hospital. We are proud to have San Joaquin General Hospital join the Anthem Blue Cross Network of Hospitals.”
“The management and staff of San Joaquin General Hospital look forward to a long and successful relationship with Anthem Blue Cross”, stated Ken Cohen, health care services agency director for San Joaquin County. “We are, and continue to be, focused on providing the highest level of quality healthcare to the residents of San Joaquin County.”
