Network: San Mateo Network Closing Doors Effective February 1, 2010
Dec 14, 2009
Anthem Blue Cross decided to discontinue the administration of San Mateo Network.
As a result of this decision, San Mateo Network will shut down effective February 1, 2010.
Anthem Blue Cross will transition members from San Mateo Network to several receiving medical groups effective February 1, 2010. Many members will be able to maintain their relationship with their current primary care physician (PCP) because, whenever possible, members were reassigned to alternate medical groups with which their PCPs were affiliated. Those alternate medical groups include:
- Brown and Toland Medical Group
- Hill Physicians Medical Group-San Francisco
- Mills Peninsula Medical Group
- Physicians Integrated Medical Group
- Sequoia Physicians Network.
Anthem mailed letters to HMO and Select HMO members affected by this network change on December 3, 2009. Anthem also mailed letters to related clients, brokers and agents.
