Network: Select HMO Update for January 1, 2010
Nov 03, 2009
Select HMO Network refresh update
As Anthem Blue Cross announced last month, the Select HMO Network has gone through an evaluation to make sure the providers in this network are upholding their commitment to cost efficiency for your clients and members. As a result, Anthem is adding 21 medical groups that now meet the objectives of the Select HMO Network, effective October 1, 2009 and one medical group (Sequoia Physicians Network in Northern California) effective January 1, 2010. Anthem is also removing 22 medical groups from this network, because they no longer meet the network's criteria. Medical groups no longer eligible to participate in the Select HMO Network will continue to be active in Anthem's other traditional networks.
Attached is a list
of what Anthem believes the Select HMO Network will look like as of January 1, 2010. *Please note that the composition of Anthem's Select HMO Network will be finalized pending review by the Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) which is anticipated no later than November 1, 2009.

Anthem will be notifying impacted employers of the network changes. Anthem will also be notifying members affected by a provider change and will make sure they're reassigned to another Select HMO medical group. Members will continue to have the option to select another Select HMO provider if they wish. Plus, new ID cards reflecting any changes will be sent out.
