Successor Names for Ken Goulet; Regions Realigned

Aug 11, 2015

As Anthem announced earlier, Ken Goulet, Executive Vice President and President, Commercial and Specialty Business Division (CSBD), will retire from their company after 11 years of inspirational leadership and many contributions to their company's success. Brian Griffin has been selected to assume the CSBD leadership role.

Griffin currently serves as New York's Commercial Plan President and is responsible for Anthem's pharmacy operations across the nation. Before joining their company, Brian served as CEO of Medco International, a division of Medco, a Fortune 34 pharmacy benefits management company with more than $68 billion in annual revenue. He also served as president of Medco’s $35 billion health plan division, and as a member of Medco’s executive management and operating committees for more than 13 years.

A search to fill Griffin's current position is underway. His successor to run our New York plan will be announced at a later date.

Regions realigned
As part of this realignment, Anthem's current three-region structure for their commercial and specialty business will be consolidated into two regions, the West Region and the East Region.

These changes will take place on September 1, 2015.

Cigna acquisition
Recently, Anthem announced their parent company's intention to acquire Cigna Corporation. The combined company will offer a broader range of personally relevant, high-quality, high-value products and services. Dennis Matheis will lead their planning and integration activities related to the Cigna acquisition.

Going forward, Anthem will keep you informed of any new developments as details become available.
