Health Net: SBG Vision Plan Changes Effective 11/1/09
Effective Nov. 1, 2009, Health Net announces the following vision plan changes for small group new sales or upon the group’s renewal date. There are no vision rate changes.
1. Better Contact Lens Benefit
2. New Optical Center Choices
- Vision plans now feature two enhancements to the contact lens benefit:
- Standard contact lens fit and follow-up exam – up to $55 copayment (for plans with eye exam benefits)
- Medically necessary contact lens paid in full (in network)
- The additional of the fit and follow up exam allows members to use the entire contact lens allowance towards materials, and pay less out-of-pocket for their overall contact lens expenses.
JCPenney® Optical and additional Sears OpticalSM locations have been added to our already extensive network of providers, giving members:
3. Progressive Lenses Change
- More provider choices
- Added convenience – vision care in the same place they shop
- Flexible appointments – Health Net’s vision network features evening and weekend appointments to fit every schedule
4. Additional Pair of Eyeglasses and Lens Options Changes
- Increased the standard progressive lens copayment by $20 due to higher priced materials.
There are minimal increases to the additional pair of eyeglasses benefits and lens options due to higher-priced materials and new technology as shown in the chart below. Even so, Health Net vision rates continue to be affordable and competitive.
