CaliforniaChoice announced rate and benefit changes for January 1, 2018 effective dates with no underwriting changes. Rates are available for quoting!

Please note, Kaiser Permanente is offering rate and benefit parity on all plans beginning in 2018 (no off anniversary moves, i.e. a current Kaiser direct group could only move to CaliforniaChoice at their Kaiser renewal).

Rates

Medical: varies by carrier, plan, and region

Ancillary: Rate changes to SmileSaver Plan 1000 & Plan 3000

Dependents:

Currently, children ages 0 to 20 are in one premium age band. Effective January 1, 2018 for new and renewing business, children ages 0 to 20 will follow the new Federal uniform age curve:

  • One age band for children 0-14; and
  • Separate single age bands for children 15-20

The rating for large families will not be impacted; the three oldest children under the age of 21 will continue to be used for rating.​

New Medical Plans:

  • Health Net Platinum HMO B
  • Health Net Silver HMO A
  • Health Net Silver HMO B
  • Kaiser Permanente Platinum HMO B
  • Kaiser Permanente Bronze HMO A

Discontinued Medical Plans:

  • Anthem Blue Cross Bronze EPO HSA B
  • Kaiser Permanente Bronze HMO B

Existing Medical Plans: Most CaliforniaChoice plans will experience benefit changes.

Ancillary Plans: No plan or benefit changes.

Western Health Advantage & UC Davis

As a reminder, UC Davis Health will be exiting the WHA provider network effective January 1, 2018. Current members will be required to select a new Primary Care Physician.

Underwriting

There are no underwriting changes for 1/1/18.
