Anthem: Communication to Fully Insured Groups for Updated BCBSA Language

Anthem is required to include information in their group contract that describes the programs offered by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). The BCBSA has updated its disclosure paragraphs and, as a result, Anthem is updating their group contracts to include these new disclosures. None of the programs are actually changing, but the BCBSA wanted to clarify the prior language. Additionally, the BlueCard Worldwide® program has a new name – Blue Cross Blue Shield Global Core. 

To make sure Anthem's fully insured groups have the latest BCBSA information, they will be communicating this information to groups beginning in November. Groups will either receive the information by email or through a postal mailing. Depending on a group’s status, the group will receive either an updated contract, an amendment to their existing contract or a communication informing the group that their contract will be updated with the new BCBSA language upon their renewal.
