Anthem would like you to know that some of your Small Group clients may have received an incorrect mailing regarding how claims will be processed based on their Medicare Part B eligibility or enrollment.
Contained in this mailing it stated:
"If you are eligible for Medicare coverage but have chosen not to take it, Anthem will pay your Medicare Part B-type claims as if you had enrolled in Medicare Part B." As a result, Medicare would have become the primary payer for their Medicare Part B-type benefits, and members may have been financially responsible for more of their Medicare Part B-type claims.
Please Note: The mailing was sent in error and there will be no changes in the manner in which claims are processed based on Medicare Part B eligibility. Retraction letters will be mailed to your clients to let them know that they can disregard the letter and their benefits will not be changing.
