Anthem to Launch New Pharmacy Benefits Manager

Anthem, Inc. has announced that it is launching IngenioRx, a new pharmacy benefits manager (PBM). IngenioRx will begin offering a full suite of PBM solutions starting in 2020. 

IngenioRx will strengthen Anthem Blue Cross' value proposition centered on improving health outcomes and helping to lower total health care costs through the power of integration, combining national scale with local expertise, and developing tools and solutions that paint a real-time picture of total health. Anthem is committed to transitioning their members as seamlessly as possible to their new solution in 2020. Until then, your clients and their employees should continue to use their benefits the same as they do today. 

In addition to the news about launching IngenioRx, Anthem also announced that they are partnering with CVS Health after their current PBM contract expires at the end of 2019. IngenioRx will leverage market-leading pricing, Anthem's clinical expertise, deep provider relationships and focus on customer centricity with CVS' point-of-sale engagement strategies. CVS will also provide prescription fulfillment and claims processing services. This combination will create a truly integrated approach to managing health and driving better outcomes.
