Beam: Repapering to Principal Beginning with 2/1/27 Renewals

Following Principal’s acquisition of Beam earlier this year, Beam has shared new details about the transition of certain dental and vision policies to Principal beginning in 2027:

Starting with policy anniversaries on or after February 1, 2027, some in-force dental and vision policies in select states will be repapered to Principal Life Insurance Company (Principal), meaning Principal will become the insurance company underwriting those policies. For you and your clients, the transition should feel seamless because there will be:

• No rate changes because of repapering
• No changes to deductibles, coinsurance levels, or maximums
• No changes to commissions and compensation
• Continued management of servicing within Lighthouse

There may be minor differences in service class, frequencies, and limitations for a small number of specific dental services. Any differences that apply to your groups’ plans will be outlined in your groups’ renewal letters. From a network standpoint, vision stays on the VSP Choice network. Dental moves to the Principal Plan Dental Network, one of the nation's largest, with 148,000 providers.*

So while the policy paper may change, your experience of working with Beam will not. Nothing changes about the renewal process and your Client Success Manager is here to support you. And if you have new business to quote, your Sales Executive is available as always. From new business to renewals, you will receive the same level of service you've come to expect.

If you're not already, you’ll need to be appointed with Principal by February 1, 2027. If you do need to get appointed, Beam will reach out with next steps to guide you through the process. Your current appointments and broker of record assignments won't change.
