CaliforniaChoice: Federal COBRA Partial Billing Service Sunset Beginning August 2026 Federal COBRA Billing Update

CaliforniaChoice® shared that their Federal COBRA Courtesy billing service offered through WageWorks, a HealthEquity company, will be discontinued for new and renewing groups beginning August 2026.

Beginning with August 2026 group renewals, all Federal COBRA Courtesy Billing Service groups will be transitioned to Federal COBRA Group Billed. This means that all Federal COBRA employer groups will now have COBRA members included on their monthly group invoice and the group will be responsible for collecting premium payments directly from the COBRA members. Additionally, employers will be responsible for communicating this change to their COBRA members.

CaliforniaChoice is committed to ensuring a smooth and seamless transition for all affected groups and will work closely with you to address any questions that may arise during this process.
