Formulary Changes for Aetna California Small Group Plans Effective July 1, 2023

Changes coming to Aetna California Small Group pharmacy drug lists

Effective July 1, 2023, Aetna is making pharmacy drug changes to their 2023 Aetna Health Exchange Plan, Small Group California formulary. The Aetna Health Exchange plan – Small Group formulary will now be separated in to two separate formularies – California HMO and California OAMC/PPO. Based upon feedback from the DOI, the OAMC/PPO network will have additional drugs covered and/or on lower tiers. See Aetna's OAMC/PPO Summary of Changes for more details.

On June 30th when accessing Aetna's formulary website, you will choose a plan year and plan then click view pharmacy plan. You will then select a state - California, the site will expand to show both formulary options.

The new formulary names will be:

• Aetna Health Exchange Plan - California - HMO
• Aetna Health Exchange Plan - California - OA Managed Choice® POS, Open Choice® PPO

These pharmacy drug changes will apply to all California Small Groups.
