Health Net Highlights: Competitive Rates, Nationwide Network, and Simplified Underwriting

There’s never been a better time to quote and sell Health Net! Their consistent pricing, new out-of-state provider network, and simplified underwriting are just some of the great reasons to work with Health Net.

 

1. Competitive Plans & Rates

Health Net’s pricing stability has them positioned as the one of the most competitive carriers throughout California in Q1 2024. Health Net has had extremely consistent pricing over the last few years:

  • HMO: 0.7% average quarterly rate change since Q1 2021
  • PPO: 0.3% average quarterly rate change since Q1 2021

 

You’ll see Health Net more often than any other carrier on our Q1 2024 Most Competitive Plans by Region (PDF). They are competitive in almost all regions and plan designs, especially on Platinum PPOs, Gold HSAs, and Silver HSAs.

 

2. New Out-of-State Network

The Cigna Healthcare PPO Network is Health Net’s new provider network outside of California for Health Net PPO plans with out-of-state coverage. This change went into effect on November 1, 2023, so all current and new eligible Health Net groups have access to this network.

 

How to search the Cigna network for eligible Health Net members:

  1. Go to Health Net’s website
  2. Click Find a Provider / ProviderSearch
  3. Click the Search National PPO Network option on the right

3. Simplified Underwriting

Health Net's underwriting promotions (PDF) provide flexibility and simplicity so you can enroll groups with minimal paperwork.

  • Enhanced Choice promo for groups with 5 enrolling employees
    • No DE-9C, payroll or ownership documents
    • No prior carrier bill
    • 25% participation, minimum 5 enrolled
    • Employees enrolled on another carrier through the same employer are now considered valid waivers (any groups with 5+ subscribers enrolling)
  • Sell HMO with 6 enrolling employees
    • No DE-9C, payroll or ownership documents
    • No prior carrier bill
    • No participation attestation
    • No waivers (when not paired with Life or ER paid Dental/Vision)
    • No participation requirement
