Health Net: Potential Optum Terminations Could Impact Members
Health Net and Optum have agreed on contract terms through 12/31/2027 but will terminate certain lines of business.
Renewed Health Net plans and products
Health Net has reached an agreement with Optum to renew through 12/31/2027 for the product lines listed:
- Commercial HMO: All PPGs
- Commercial SmartCare: All PPGs
- Commercial ExcelCare: All PPGs
- Commercial PPO: All PPGs
- Commercial POS and EOA: All PPGs
- Commercial Blue and Gold: All PPGs
- Ambetter PPO: All PPGs
- Salud: Optum Care Network-SDPMG (Formerly San Diego Physician’s Medical Group)
- Salud: AppleCare Select
Optum termination effective 1/1/2027
- Ambetter HMO: All Optum PPGs
- WholeCare: All Optum PPGs
- Salud: OHPC IPA (Arta), PrimeCare, Good Samaritan (OCN – LA County)
In accordance with regulatory requirements, member termination notices will be sent starting November 2. Members assigned to affected Optum Medical Groups will receive letters that explain these two outcomes, effective January 1, 2027:
- The member will retain their PCP but will change medical groups. Or,
- The member will change PCPs and medical groups.
During the notice period leading up to January 1st, 2027, members will be able to have access to services with their current PCP and medical group.
- New members cannot be assigned to Optum while Health Net finalizes their negotiations.
