Important Anthem Small Group Updates

Anthem Blue Cross provided important updates on some changes, underwriting promotions, and COVID-19 vaccines and treatment. Please see below for more information.

Anthem's newest ACH/EFT Form

Effective February 15, 2021, Anthem will only be accepting this new ACH/EFT form, which doesn’t require a voided check to be submitted. Please make sure this new form is used going forward to avoid delays in getting approval on your new business submissions.

Beere&Purves' website and kits have been updated with this new form.

Q2 Underwriting Promotions

Statewide Network Flexibility Promotion allows employers to choose one of the following:

• 2 PPO networks alongside 1 HMO network
• 2 HMO networks alongside 1 PPO network

DE9C not required with 3 or more subscribers enrolling! No DE9C required for standalone Specialty sales. This excludes virgin groups and prior carrier bill is required if DE9C not provided. Anthem reserves the right to request more information.

Relaxed Participation

25% participation for groups of 5 or more enrolled subscribers

65% participation required for 4 or fewer subscribers enrolled

Valid Waivers

Individual coverage both on or off of the Exchange will be accepted as a valid waiver (in addition to employees waiving due to Medicare, Medi-Cal or military, or covered as a dependent on a spouse’s or parents employer sponsored group plan).

Specialty Broker Bonus (Small and Large Group combined)

How can you qualify?

• A minimum of 10 new lines of coverage and $75,000 in new annualized premium
• Earn up to $25,000 per line of coverage per group
• New dental, vision, life, disability effective dates between February, 2021, and January, 2022.
• Get additional bonuses for retaining existing business with Anthem.

Important COVID-19 Cost Share Update

Cost-sharing for diagnostic tests, visits and treatment related to COVID-19 by in-network providers ended on Jan. 31, 2021 for members of its fully-insured employer, Individual, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans.
