IRS Says HDHPs can Cover Coronavirus Costs

The IRS posted Notice 2020-15 that says that HDHPs can pay for 2019 Novel Coronavirus-related testing and treatment without jeopardizing their status. HDHPs cannot pay medical expenses other than preventive care until the deductible is reached, however, this IRS notice is making an exception for Coronavirus treatment and testing. This means individuals covered by HDHPs will not be disqualified from making tax-favored contributions to an HSA.
