New 2023 UHC Rewards Programs

UHC's new wellness program, UHC Rewards, is a great way for members to get $$ back in their pockets! The below information applies to CA SG 1-100 but it also applies to most states nationwide SG segment.

 

UHC Core & Premium Rewards

Who is eligible for Premium Rewards and Core Rewards? 

  • Employees and Spouse enrolled on a PPO or HDHP 2023 CA plan are eligible (not children)
  • Members must be on a 2023 plan design to be eligible (either new business or upon renewal 2023)

 

How to know which plans have Core Rewards versus Premium Rewards?

  • All CA PPO and HDHP plans have either Core Rewards or Premier Rewards included. 
  • If the PPO or HDHP plan design does NOT specify “Premium” then it automatically defaults to including the “Core” Rewards program.
  • Otherwise, the PPO or HDHP plan will specify “Premium” Rewards in the plan design name.

 

What is Core Rewards?

  • Core Rewards is wellness program that allows Employees and their Spouses to receive up to $300 back into their pockets. They can earn this money by completing various activities. Some examples are: scheduling a virtual visit, completing a health survey, completing an onboarding survey, selecting a PCP, completing a biometric screening, switching to paperless mail, exercising for 15 minutes and so many more. As you can see there are a lot of different ways to earn money and promote wellness. 
  • The funds can be sent via an electronic Visa Gift Card (PPO and/or HDHP members) or deposited into the member’s HSA account (HDHP members only). 
    • The electronic Visa Gift Card does not have to be used on health related expenses. 
    • The funds deposited into any HSA account must be used on health related expenses and they do count towards the allowed maximum amount for HSA contributions.
    • The electronic Visa Gift Card will be emailed to the email address associated with the member’s myuhc.com account.
    • The member can receive the electronic payout as frequent as they want, even with each reward earned if they choose to request such since the payout is member initiated.

 

Note: The activities to earn money are the same from Core and Premier Rewards programs, but rather the amount of money is all that varies between the two.

Care Cash

Who is Eligible For Care Cash?

In CA, UHC has 1 plan that is eligible for Care Cash, that’s one of the Bronze $7500/50% PPO plans. You’ll see it indicated as Care Cash.

 

What is Care Cash?

  • Care Cash is a prefunded debit card program supporting first-dollar coverage and is available to use for specific health care expenses. 
  • Employees can use the card for eligible UnitedHealth Premium Care physicians, Virtual Visit providers, urgent care facilities, primary care physicians and outpatient behavioral health care providers. 
  • Benefits of the Care Cash Card:
    • Awards employees $200 for the year (individual coverage only), or $500 for family coverage.
    • Can help pay out-of-pocket costs for eligible healthcare expenses.
    • Is reloadable. Each year, money is added after the employee completes the activation steps at myuhc.com. At the end of the year, any remaining fund balance rolls over to the next year with consecutive Care Cash eligibility.
    • Unused dollars roll-over towards a $2,000 maximum, but do not expire unless a member’s Care Cash medical plan eligibility is discontinued.
