Principal Available Down to 2 Lives Effective 5/1/21!

Principal has exciting news to share. Beginning with May 1, 2021 effective dates, Principal will be able to quote down to 2 lives! Their updated guidelines are:

• Dental: standalone at 2 lives.
• Vision, Life, STD, LTD: standalone at 5 lives or down to 2 lives with 2+ lines of coverage.
• Voluntary guidelines: Principal still requires 5+ eligible lives to quote voluntary coverage, but they will now accept down to 2 enrolled lives per coverage.  They will continue to require the lesser of 50% or 5 enrolled lives in New York.
• Family Content: for groups with 2 employees, neither individual can be related by blood or marriage.  
• Actively at Work (AAW) requirement: both employees must be actively at work.
• Contributory coverage: allowed down to 2 lives, but both lives must participate.

Principal is in the process of updating their marketing materials. B&P will also be updating documents to reflect these new guidelines.
