UHC Specialty Updates: BenefitHub Discount, Q4 + 1 Specialty Playbook, Waiving Dental Waiting Period

UHC provided the following important updates on their Specialty products.

BenefitHub Discount

With a UnitedHealthcare dental or vision plan, employees have access to BenefitHub, an online marketplace with discount offers on services and products focused on health and wellbeing.

Employees can access 200+ discounts on items and services such as:

• Online coaching: Discounts on programs for weight loss, stress reduction, diabetes and more
• Health clubs: Savings on enrollment and monthly fees as well as personal training
• Technology services, family entertainment, restaurants: Savings on a variety of ways to connect with friends and family

Q4 + 1 UHC Specialty Playbook

Waiving Dental Waiting Period

If a group is transferring their dental coverage to UnitedHealthcare and selected a dental plan with a waiting period for major services, they can get that waiting period waived for the initial enrolling employees if they provide the following information.

• Proof of prior coverage for major services: This requires a benefit summary, certificate of coverage or an explanation of benefits from the prior carrier showing coverage for major services.
• Proof of prior coverage for the proceeding plan year: This could be in the form of a renewal from the prior carrier showing coverage dates or a recent bill and a year-old bill.
