The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2022 was signed into law on March 15, 2022. The bill included a provision that extends access to telehealth services for HSA-qualified HDHPs prior to their deductible from April 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022.
HSA-qualified HDHPs are usually not allowed to pay for covered services (except for preventive care) until the participant meets the plan's deductible.
Please note, this legislation allows for this extension to be adopted, however, it does not mandate it. Fully-insured plans should reach out to their carrier while self-insured employers should consult their third-party claims administrators.
